What you see here is a part of an 18-meter-high steel sculpture named Himlatrappan (= Stairways to Heaven) by the Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. It’s one of the permanent sculptures in the outdoor sculpture park Kivik Art Centre, Kivik, Sweden.

The architect decided to take the chance of designing a stairway just the way he wanted as he ordinarily, in his profession as an architect, always has to compromise to make the stairway fit within the walls of the building he works on.
